Asian countries, regardless of income level, share the health problem of an increasing prevalence of infectious diseases such as SARS and MERS as well as non-commumicable diseases including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Furthermore, environmental threats, along with sedentary lifestyles, poor nutrition, water quality, tobacco consumption, and aging are just some of the contributing risk factors for human health that must be addressed. In addition, several topics will be addressed on maternal and child health, and traditional and alternative medicine to promote public health in Asia. Participants will also discuss the current concerns and strategy by analyzing the impact of the current health care system and public education in Asia, in order to accelerate progress toward a Asian world safe and secure from various health threats.
