Possible Benefits and Risks of Artificial Intelligence for Global Biosecurity in the BWC Context

MAPBOX

This meeting is the first of two activities that the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) is organizing in coordination with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, to simulate the concept of a scientific advisory body within the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC). The second activity will be a meeting held in person in Trieste, Italy, in February 2024 (dates to be determined). We expect there will be some participant overlap between the two events. Both events are by invitation only and will be held in English.

To facilitate global representation of bio-scientists who are in different time zones, we will hold two three-hour sessions on 14 November 2023: the first is scheduled from 10:00 to 13:00 CET; the second from 15:00 to 18:00 CET. The working methodology will be the same for both sessions. The meeting will be conducted in an informal setting where participants can express themselves freely under the Chatham House Rule.
