Biography

Consultant at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Steve Biko Academic Hospital at University of Pretoria Responsibilities include clinical work such as management of antenatal clinics, labour ward, fetal assessments and procedures and obstetric theatres, with a special interest in Diabetes in pregnancy.  Involved in the teaching of undergraduate students, interns and postgraduate students specializing in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and sub-specialising in Maternal and Fetal Medicine.   Currently busy with a PhD entitled “Comparing screening strategies for gestational diabetes in a South African population”. Supervisor to five MMed student projects.   On-going collaborative research with the UKZN and the Biomedical Research and Innovation Platform, MRC unit in Cape Town.   ·  has been working at University of Pretoria since 2007.  During the last 9 years she managed different projects within the organisaton involving clinical care, research, and undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. ·  holds an MBChB from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Masters of Medicine  (MMed)(Obstetrics and Gynaecology) from the University of Pretoria, Fellow of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of South Africa(FCOG), and a Certificate in Maternal and Fetal Medicine. ·  lives in Pretoria. In her free time she enjoys reading, gardening, cooking and cake decorating.
