Academies fighting for human rights

The International Human Rights Network of Academies and Scholarly Societies (IHRN) launched its repository of selected academy activities

Through their research and other activities, many national academies around the world are examining the connections between science, engineering, health and human rights and working to promote rights-based approaches to the pandemic.

In celebration of Human Rights Day, the International Human Rights Network of Academies and Scholarly Societies (IHRN) is proud to announce the launch of its repository of selected academy activities independently produced in this area. The 2020 theme of Human Rights Day, Recover Better - Stand Up for Human Rights, focuses on the need to ensure that human rights are central to COVID-19 pandemic recovery efforts.

The IHRN repository, which will be continually expanded, includes reports, statements, webinars, interviews, and other resources on a variety of human rights-related topics, including strategies for working towards pandemic responses rooted in human rights.

The IHRN invites academies to contact it with information concerning relevant initiatives.
