The 11th Conference of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP-MOP 11) will meet in Cali, Colombia, from 21 October to 1 November 2024, to discuss compliance, risk management and other key biosafety issues; a preparatory webinar will be held on 11 September 2024, to brief stakeholders on the agenda.
The eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP-MOP 11) will discuss several items including compliance, risk assessment and risk management of living modified organisms, the Biosafety Clearing-House, detection and identification of living modified organisms and socio-economic considerations. The meeting will also consider the Nagoya-Kuala Lumpur Supplementary Protocol on Liability and Redress to the Cartagena Protocol.
In order to support Parties and other stakeholders in their preparations for the meeting, a briefing webinar is being organized to provide an overview of the agenda items of COP-MOP 11 and introduce corresponding documents to participants.
The webinar coincides with the anniversary of the entry into force of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety, a significant milestone in international environmental governance.
The webinar will be held on Microsoft Teams on 11 September 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. EDT (GMT-4) and conducted in English.
