On 9 May 2024, join the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC) and the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) for a webinar and the launch of a new report: Decarbonisation of Transport in Africa: Opportunities, Challenges and Policy Options.
Decarbonisation of transport in Africa is essential for addressing climate change, improving air quality, enhancing energy security, promoting economic development, and ensuring equitable access to clean and sustainable transportation options. It is also crucial to the realization of Africa’s Agenda 2063, Paris Agreement, and the Sustainable Development Goals. The report, a collaborative study by NASAC and IAP, assesses the opportunities and challenges in decarbonising road transport across the continent. It addresses cross-cutting issues such as policy, institutional and technical capacity, strategies, technologies, financing, and social, legal, and regulatory frameworks.
The webinar invites stakeholders and policymakers involved in sustainable transport initiatives across Africa to discuss the study's findings and recommendations as well as the broader theme of transport decarbonisation on the continent.
Date: Thursday, 9 May 2024.
Time: 3:00 – 5:00 PM EAT; 12:00 - 2:00 PM GMT; 8:00 – 10:00 AM US ET. Time converter.
