The InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) is pleased to have participated in the 2024 Global Young Academy's International Conference of Young Scientists held in Washington, D.C. at the U.S. National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) from 8-9 May 2024.
Themed "Transformative and Inclusive Science for a Sustainable Future," the conference convened over 150 young scientists from more than 70 countries. It served as a platform for robust discussions on leveraging recent technological advancements and fostering diverse and inclusive science to address global challenges and promote sustainability.
IAP Executive Director Dr. Ourania Kosti contributed her expertise and insights to discussions on how recent technological advancements and efforts towards diverse and inclusive science can shape a sustainable future for all.
Sponsored by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and the National Academy of Sciences Kobelt Fund, the conference received support from a Local Organizing Committee comprising members of the National Academies' New Voices in Science, Engineering and Medicine programme, along with supporting National Academies staff. IAP provides financial support to the GYA for its Global Young Academy's International Conference of Young Scientists.
The event aimed to facilitate engagement between participants and U.S.-based experts and STEM leaders, fostering collaboration to tackle pressing societal issues. Registration was open to the public for both virtual and in-person attendance.
