The IAP was represented at the Annual Meeting of African Science Academies, hosted by the Algerian Academy of Science and Technology (AAST) in collaboration with the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC).
IAP Co-President Prof. Masresha Fetene provided opening remarks on behalf of the organisation, emphasizing the need for collaborations among scientists and science academies in Africa, and how the IAP through NASAC supports such initiatives.
Prof. Masresha Fetene, together with IAP Associate Programme Officer, Moses Ogutu, also spoke at various side events, including the Learning Collaborative on maintaining financial sustainability with independence, and the physical/in-person launch of the Decarbonisation of Transport in Africa report.
Various IAP reports were also presented at the event. For example, Prof. Susan Veldsman from the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) presented the findings of the 2022 IAP report on Combatting Predatory Academic Journals and Conferences. While Deoraj Caussy, PhD and Dr. Jackie Kado, NASAC Executive Director, presented on the 2022 report on Protecting human health against climate change in Africa.
