The IPCC plays a vital role in assessing scientific knowledge on climate change, its impacts and mitigation options. Its reports are critical resources for policymakers worldwide. However, despite their global significance, contributions from developing countries remain underrepresented in these assessments. This discrepancy has implications for both the diversity of perspectives and the ethical dimension of climate policy, as the most vulnerable nations—often those with the lowest historical emissions—face the greatest risks from climate change.
This webinar will explain the IPCC process for author nominations, outlining how experts can engage with the IPCC and how national academies can act as catalysts in their respective countries. Taking place alongside the latest IPCC call for nominations, this session is designed to equip participants with the necessary information to apply as an author or to support the nomination process at the national level.
This webinar is an opportunity to understand how to contribute to the IPCC’s influential reports and help ensure greater representation from diverse backgrounds. Whether you are an expert considering applying as an author or a national academy representative looking to support nominations, this session will provide the guidance needed to navigate the process effectively.
The webinar will be recorded and a summary will be made available on the IAP website. Past webinars can also be accessed here.
