  1. Science education: purpose, methods, ideas and teaching resources
Science education has the potential for helping the development of the required abilities and understanding by focusing on developing powerful ideas of science and ideas about the nature of scientific activity and its applications.
  2. Combatting Predatory Academic Journals and Conferences
Led by an independent working group of international experts nominated by academies around the world, this IAP study set out to improve the understanding of what constitutes predatory practices, gauge their prevalence and impact, identify their root causes, and review efforts to address them. Read the full report in English and the translations in other 8 languages here. Watch the video recording of the IAP webinar here.
  3. Doing global science: A guide to responsible conduct in the global research enterprise
This concise introductory guide explains the values that should inform the responsible conduct of scientific research in today’s global setting. Featuring accessible discussions and ample real-world scenarios, Doing Global Science covers proper conduct, fraud and bias, the researcher’s responsibilities to society, communication with the public, and much more.
  4. Working with big ideas of science education
Science Education is a key area for the IAP. This publication sets out 10 big ideas of science (e.g. ‘All matter in the Universe is made of very small particles’), and four ideas about science (e.g. ‘Scientific explanations, theories and models are those that best fit the evidence available at a particular time’). For each of these big ideas the progression in development is described in terms of a narrative; a story of how small ideas build into bigger ones.
  5. Meet the next generation of IAP young physician leaders
The 2024 cohort of YPL is composed by 24 outstanding young physicians below the age of 40 from all over the world. Read the call for nominations here and the highlights of their participation to WHS here.
  6. Climate Change and biodiversity: How to support climate action and biodiversity (infographic)
Measures that benefit biodiversity have the potential to support climate action and some aspects of climate action can support biodiversity. The ‘IAP Statement on Climate Change and Biodiversity: Interlinkages and policy options’ includes a section on policy measures that sets out which land-based and sea-based climate policies are beneficial for biodiversity and should therefore be encouraged, and which are not and should therefore be discouraged.
  7. Call for proposals: IAP competitive grants
IAP invites proposals from member academies and regional networks, for projects that would help advance IAP’s mission and strategic goals. Read more about our 2023–2024 small grants here. They have supported initiatives addressing biosecurity, science diplomacy, predatory publishing and many other challenges.
  8. Call for applications: GYA-IAP workshop on trust in science at WSF 2024
On 20 November 2024, IAP and the Global Young Academy (GYA) held a Capacity Building Workshop on the theme of 'Trust in Science', in conjunction with the World Science Forum (WSF) 2024 in Budapest, Hungary. The call for applications was open to early career scientists. Read more about the IAP participation to WSF 2024 here.
  9. Decarbonisation of transport in Africa, a transport planning perspective
Since 2022, IAP and its regional network, the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC) are collaborating on a project aimed at promoting sustainable transport in Africa. In 2024, they published the report Decarbonisation of Transport in Africa - Opportunities, Challenges and Policy Options. Read and download it here.
  10. IAP Webinar: Removing barriers that hinder global scientific exchange and collaboration
International scientific exchange is crucial in both the advancement of science and in addressing global challenges such as climate change, public health and pandemics, sustainable development, and digital security. Watch the recording of this event here and read more about the IAP webinar series here.
