The InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) is pleased to invite institutions linked to its global network to engage with a significant new opportunity for at-risk researchers through the SAFE project—“Supporting At-risk Researchers with Fellowships in Europe.” This European initiative, managed by Campus France, aligns closely with IAP's "Science in Exile" programme, providing essential resources to researchers from war-affected or high-risk regions.
The SAFE programme offers PhD and postdoctoral researchers a chance to carry out research in Europe for up to 24 months at academic or non-academic research institutions. Importantly, the host institutions initiate the application process and will receive direct funding from Campus France to support the selected researcher. These funds cover a monthly salary, mobility and family allowances, as well as research and training costs, ensuring that both the researcher and host institution have the resources needed to succeed.
Monthly funding rates:
PhD researchers: €3,400 gross salary, €600 mobility allowance, €660 family allowance, €1,000 for research, and €650 for management costs.
Post-doc researchers: €5,080 gross salary, along with the same mobility, family, research and management support as PhD researchers.
We encourage institutions within the IAP network to consider applying as host institutions, fostering a safe and productive environment for at-risk scientists to continue their vital research.
The application portal will open on 18 November 2024, with a launch webinar scheduled for 19 November from 2 pm to 3:30 pm CET. Interested institutions and researchers can register for the webinar by 18 November through this Zoom link.
By engaging with SAFE, IAP’s network can help advance its mission to safeguard science in challenging times, ensuring that researchers in exile are empowered and integrated into the global scientific community.
