At an event in Trieste the situation of scientists and science students fleeing from war in neighbouring countries or distant countries was given attention.

TOP STORY: Thousands of scientists and science students have fled wars in recent years, and have arrived in neighbouring countries or distant countries hoping for a safe place to resume their work. How should their new countries respond? At an event organised by the University of Trieste (Italy) and TWAS, local researchers acknowledged many effective programmes. But the support is uneven and fragmented, they said. Additional assistance might include help for travel and relocation, and the creation of platforms where scientists can share experiences and opportunities. The TWAS film "Science in Exile" was screened at the event. Click here for more information.
