Women in Science: OWSD Launches Global Research Competition

'Short Talks, Big Impact' invites women scientists worldwide to present their research in a fast-paced, engaging challenge

On the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) is thrilled to announce the Short Talks, Big Impacts OWSD Women in Science Spotlight Competition—a live event where OWSD members can present their research in a dynamic three-minute format. This competition is designed to showcase the significance of scientific research and its contribution to both local and global solutions.

Participants will have the opportunity to present their work to an international audience through regional sessions, culminating in a grand finale where both the audience and an expert panel will select the winners. This initiative aims to celebrate the remarkable achievements of women scientists worldwide and their crucial role in addressing some of the most pressing global challenges. The IAP joins its sister organisation OWSD in honouring these women and continues to support the advancement of women in science.

This invitation is open to all OWSD members to register for the competition. If you are not an OWSD member, you may still attend as a voting audience. Links to participate as a voting audience in each session will be shared soon.

How to Participate:

Regional Sessions: Women scientists (OWSD members) from Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Asia and the Arab States will compete in live webinars. Presentations will be followed by audience voting.

Grand Finale: The top two presenters from each region will advance to the grand finale, where both public voting and an expert panel will determine the global winner(s).
