Biography

Hugo Hidalgo is a professor from the School of Physics and Director of the Center for Geophysical Research at the University of Costa Rica. Dr. Hidalgo has a Licenciatura degree from the University of Costa Rica and M.Sc and Ph.D. degrees from the University of California, Los Angeles on Civil and Environmental Engineering focused on water resources. He worked previously for the University of California at the Los Angeles, Berkeley and San Diego campuses after his Ph.D. for 9 years. He is a member of Costa Rican Academy of Sciences. He is a coordinator of the Master of Sciences in Hydrology at the University of Costa Rica. He received the Clodomiro Picado Twight National Sciences Award in 2018, the highest recognition for sciences in Costa Rica. He also received the 2020 research award on basic sciences from the University of Costa Rica.
