Biography

Miodrag Marković, born in Gacko in 1962, is a distinguished historian and a full member of the Department of Historical Sciences at the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA). His association with SASA began as a corresponding member on November 5, 2015, with a subsequent elevation to full membership on November 4, 2021.

Marković's academic career has been marked by his contributions to various institutions. He has served in numerous capacities at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, ranging from Teaching Aide to Professor, demonstrating his commitment to education and scholarly pursuits. Additionally, he served as a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Eastern Sarajevo. Within SASA, Marković holds the position of Vice-President since 2023, playing a pivotal role in shaping the academy's initiatives and endeavors.

Marković's extensive involvement in specialist associations reflects his dedication to advancing historical research. He has contributed significantly to boards, councils, and committees focusing on diverse aspects of history and cultural heritage, both domestically and internationally. As an editor, Marković has left a lasting impact on scholarly publications, serving as Editor-in-Chief for esteemed journals and contributing to the editorial boards of various publications related to art history and Byzantine studies. His scholarly contributions have garnered recognition, including the Special Award of the 63rd International Belgrade Fair for the book "Artistic Heritage of the Serbian People in Kosovo and Metohija," which he co-edited.
