Maria Chiara Malaguti
Prof. Malaguti is Full Professor of International law at Università Cattolica Sacro Cuore (Italy). Based in Rome, she is Director of the ALTEMS Master for legal competences in health. ALTEMS is a High School for economics and management of health systems. Dr Malaguti also teaches ‘Global law in health’ to undergraduates, where she combines studies of international treaties on epidemics with the exploration of other fields such as food safety, environment and the SDGs. As an expert on trade, she is currently legal advisor to the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and to the World Bank. An international arbitrator, she supports the General Attorney’s Office of Italy in investment arbitrations. Previously, she has been senior legal expert at the European Central Bank, as well as legal assistant to the Italian Judge at the European Court of Justice. She practices as an attorney in Rome. Dr. Malaguti holds degrees in law and in economics, an LLM from Harvard Law School and a PhD from the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence, Italy. Beyond Italian, she regularly works in English, French and Spanish. She understands German and Portuguese and has some knowledge of Arabic. She has published extensively.
