Nebojša Lalić

Nebojša Lalić, a distinguished physician specializing in endocrinology and diabetology, was born on 14 January 1958, in Belgrade. He holds a full membership in the Department of Medical Sciences. Lalić's association with the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA) commenced as a corresponding member in November 2006, eventually attaining full membership in November 2012. His academic journey includes earning an MD (1982), MSc (1986), and PhD (1993) from the School of Medicine, University of Belgrade.
Throughout his career, Lalić has held pivotal roles at prestigious institutions such as the School of Medicine, University of Belgrade, where he serves as a full professor since 2007 and as the dean since 2012. He is also affiliated with the Centre for Metabolic Disorders, Intensive Treatment, and Cell Therapy in Diabetes and the Institute of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolic Diseases at the Clinical Centre of Serbia, Belgrade.
Within SASA, Lalić currently serves as the General Secretary since 2023, contributing significantly to the academy's mission and activities. He is an active member of various specialist associations including the Serbian Medical Society, European Association for the Study of Diabetes, American Diabetes Association, and International Diabetes Federation, among others.
Additionally, Lalić's editorial contributions extend to the Serbian Encyclopedia, where he serves on the editorial board for the fields of medicine, dental medicine, pharmacy, and veterinary medicine. Lalić's exemplary contributions have been recognized through numerous awards and honors, including the Yugoslav Award for Diabetes Research for Young Scientist in 1987 and the Hippocrates Award of the Mediterranean Group for the Study of Diabetes in 2000, among others.
