Dr. Nadia Atiya obtained her medical degree from the National University of Ireland. She is currently an associate professor of medical microbiology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya and a consultant clinical microbiologist at the University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). She is a life member of the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia.
In 2022, she was elected as a member of the International Society for Infectious Diseases Council for a 6-year term.
Dr. Atiya has held various clinical leadership positions, including the deputy chairman of the tuberculosis committee at UMMC. She also has wide experience in medical education and is a two-time recipient of the University of Malaya Faculty of Medicine Best Paraclinical Lecturer Award.
Dr. Atiya is a classically trained pianist and has passed the Grade 8 Piano and Theory of Music examinations conducted by the United Kingdom’s Associated Board of the Royals Schools of Music.
