Pinar Aksu
Biography
Pinar Aksu is a theatre maker, PhD student and Human Rights and Advocacy Coordinator. With years of experience, Pinar works with Maryhill Integration Network in Glasgow, coordinating projects for welcoming asylum seekers and refugees in the community. As a practitioner, Pinar uses Theatre of the Oppressed methods with Active Inquiry to create social change. Pinar is also Unesco RILA PhD scholarship award holder at University of Glasgow, her research is 'Art and Law in migration: art practices in social change and access to justice in migration'. Pinar has been campaigning to end detention centres and is involved with anti-racism movements. Pinar is also an alumna of the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s Young Academy of Scotland.
