Biography

Dr. Senkubuge is a specialist in Public Health Medicine and head of Health Policy and Management at the School of Health Systems and Public Health (SHSPH), University of Pretoria, South Africa. She graduated as a Medical Doctor and Specialist in Public Health Medicine at the University of Pretoria and is a Fellow of the College of Public Health Medicine, South Africa. Her special interest areas are Global Health diplomacy, Health policy and Management, Tobacco control and Health systems strengthening, she is currently completing her PhD in Public Health with a special focus on Tobacco Control.
Dr Senkubuge is the current Vice-President of the African Federation of Public Health Association (AFPHA) a regional association that brings together all Public Health Associations in Africa. She is also the current secretary of the African Advisory Council on Research and Development (AACHRD) and secretary of the college of Public Health Medicine.
She was recently elected to chair the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the World Congress on Tobacco or Health (WCTOH) which will be held in Cape Town, South Africa in 2018 for the first time ever in Africa. The WCTOH is one of the largest public health policy conferences in the world.
Dr Senkubuge is an accomplished speaker with more than 16 years’ experience in public speaking with numerous awards and has had numerous presentations at scientific conferences locally and internationally. She is also a science communicator engaged with health science communication. At heart she is a philanthropist and is passionate about mentoring young people
