Dr. Tânia Vieira da Silva has been a psychiatrist since 2019, currently working as a hospital assistant in the Department of Psychiatry of the Coimbra University Hospital Center.

Dr. Silva attended the University of Coimbra where she obtained a master’s degree in Medicine in 2012 and a master’s degree in Forensic Sciences and Legal Medicine in 2019. She is currently a PhD student at the University of Coimbra University.

Dr. Silva has been involved in the substance use disorders, not only in research and treatment, but also in medical and community education and awareness. Since 2014 she has been an active member of the Portuguese Association of Dual Pathology, and from 2017 to 2020 she was a member of the board. In this association she organized and participated in several training initiatives and meetings aimed at peers, nurses, psychologists, and social workers. She participated in community initiatives and helped to write and organize a book on the subject.

Dr. Silva is an invited teacher at Faculty of Medicine of Coimbra University since 2016, currently teaching 1st and 6th years of medicine course. She also has been collaborating in co-advising and in the evaluation of master’s thesis dissertations. She also teaches curricular units in Forensic Science and Legal Medicine master and in the Applied Pharmacology master. She is also a member of the research team of the Institute of clinical research and biomedical research of Coimbra (iCBR).
