This booklet, issued by the Mauritius Academy of Science and Technology (MAST) is an outcome of the "MAST-ASSAf-GYA-SAYAS-MYAI Webinar," held on 28 May 2024 with support from IAP. The event focused on strengthening the science advice capability of the Mauritius Academy of Science and Technology (MAST) with an emphasis on food security.

The webinar aimed to introduce the concept of science advice and how to develop effective science advice systems tailored to specific institutional and socio-cultural contexts. This foundational session was designed to enhance both individual and institutional competencies in this vital area. Read more about the webinar here.

MAST was guided and supported by the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) and the Global Young Academy Science Advice Working Group (GYA SAWG) throughout this initiative. Emphasizing a co-learning approach in national science advice and international cooperation, the Mauritius Young Academy Initiative (MYAI) and the South African Young Academy of Science (SAYAS) also participated, highlighting the contributions of female early-career researchers.

The Mauritius Academy of Science and Technology (MAST) wishes to acknowledge a grant from the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC) - InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) to undertake this review.
