The World Science Forum (WSF) is one of the most ambitious conference series worldwide. Every two years, scientist from all over the world, gather for the World Science Forum with focus on the social and economic relevance, influence and responsibilities of science. During the four days of World Science Fora over 900 leading scientists, decision-makers from the world of politics, industry, representatives of the civil society and the media express their views on the new challenges facing science in the 21st century.
IAP has been fully engaged in preparation for the November 2024 edition of the WSF that will take place from 20 to 23 November 2024 in Budapest, hosted by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. As an essential platform for global dialogue on science policy and international cooperation, the WSF is an unparalleled opportunity for IAP and other members of the global scientific community to discuss matters relating to this year's theme: "The science and policy interface at the time of global transformations".
IAP co-president Masresha Fetene sits on the Steering Committee, while IAP Coordinator, Peter McGrath, is a member of the Organising Committee.
IAP co-president, Peggy Hamburg, has been invited to participate in a plenary discussion session; a session that will feature IAP’s Climate Change and Health project has been accepted into the ‘Risk’ thematic thread; and a joint IAP-TWAS-UNESCO session on ‘Education for Sustainable Development’ has also been accepted.
